Wood you travel the world with me?

Those of you who've read my previous post will know that I was in search of an image of a very specific cake that I saw ... Well that cake is still missing. I'll keep looking, but in the mean time I wanted to share this stunning treasury. I love it when people play with words, so this treasury with its clever title appeals to me on more than one level! Thank you to  Etsy member "Cynkit" for featuring my wooden planes for passport or travel-themed invitations in her treasury. I feel flattered to have an item of mine included in such a stunning collection!

DIY Cake Topper

I wanted to post a picture of a fun and unusual wedding cake that I saw on the web the other day, but when I started looking for the source I realised that I must have failed to save the link! (Time to start that cake board on Pinterest!) Fortunately my frustration with retracing my steps on the web through my history files completely disappeared when I stumbled upon this pretty cake idea on She Paperie's blog:

I fell head over heels in love with this pretty DIY idea for a cake topper: a sweet, romantic collection of smaller individual cake toppers in stead of one large topper is such a fresh idea! I love how you can use kebab or dowel sticks, and scraps of ribbon, fabric, lace,  and paper from your wedding dress, bridesmaid's dresses and wedding stationery, in combination with buttons, pompom trim and anything else that you are sentimental about, love or find pretty. "Easy peasy" to quote the talented Suzanne from She Paperie!

Time to make dinner now ... Will continue my search for that image of the cake afterwards. Hopefully I can share it with you in my next post! Take care!

Boonestaakjes

 

One of the things I love about Etsy is the fact that I often discover new shops or artists that I haven't seen before in unexpected ways! Boonestaakjes is such a shop. Saskia, the talent behind Boonestaakjes, featured my embossed tags in a beautiful white-themed Etsy treasury. (You will find the treasury here.) I was curious to learn more about Saskia, so I followed the link to her shop. What a lovely shop! Saskia sells shawls and bags made from new, vintage, recycled and upcycled fabrics and her work is stunning. My favourite from Saskia's shop is this beautiful cosmetic pouch, but why don't you pop into Boonestaakjes to see more of her beautiful bags and shawls?

Photo Props (Part 1)

I have this little list of ideas for blog posts (for those times when I just can't make up my mind or when I'm running a little low on inspiration). Well today isn't such a day, because I do feel inspired, but I've stumbled upon the first two photographs (with the pink frame) on the web and I just had to ignore my list and post them TODAY!

The idea of a frame as a photo prop isn't new, but the way in which these ornate frames were hung from a tree are just so incredibly beautiful! A photobooth with a difference perhaps? Imagine all the fun pictures if you add a few other props with which your guests can pose behind the frames!

Spring is Almost Here!

The daffodils and tulips in my garden will hopefully bloom in a couple of weeks and I've noticed that Duiwelina (hubby and I name the wild birds in our garden!) has started to collect twigs for a nest. The skies are still a little grey though, but when I saw this post by Amy Atlas I forgot all about grey skies! The styling for this summer tea party was done by Leo and Bella from Australia. With summer still a bit far away I think it will be ok to be inspired for your spring festivities too!

I just love the festivity of the beautiful floral fabric ribbon around the takeout boxes and  milk bottles.

Although I wouldn't consider orange a favourite colour I've always loved the combination of fuchsia and orange. Adding red makes the colour scheme even bolder, but I loooooove it!

And if you're into ribbon, like I am, what's not to love about this fun ribbon garland as a backdrop? I love how the lace softens the bold colour scheme, without making it overwhelming girly.

180 Strands of Marshmallows

This styled shoot by Wednesday involved 180 strands of marshmallows! "We brought the snow indoors by creating an installation with 180 strands of marshmallows to create an added space above the table and to serve as a backdrop for photos and a ceremony."

Although I agree that this could work for a lovely winter wedding, I think marshmallows might just be in style all year round ... don't you? Imagine a cloud of mixed pastel coloured marshmallows above your candy dessert table ...
